Oak Park Community Garden is a small, non-profit community garden located on the Los Angeles - Ventura County line in Southern California. We are approximately 40 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. The property is comprised of 66 individual parcels, each 10x20 feet, on approximately one acre of land carved out of virgin open space owned by Rancho Simi Recreation and Parks District. The garden, begun in 2004, is strictly organic and operates under the guidance of an elected Board of Directors. Members are required to commit two hours each month to maintainance of common areas and/or general upgrades. Most large tools needed for tending the garden are available on-site. Members enjoy growing a large variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers; however, certain specified invasive plants are prohibited. An open-use community herb parcel is under development. Visitors are welcome.
