Alice's Garden Children's Garden

Alice's Garden Children's Garden is a community garden program sponsored by the University of Wisconsin, Extension - 4-H and Youth Development, SeedFolks Youth Ministry, and the Greater Johnsons Park Health Coalition. The garden welcomes neighborhood and community children, April thru October, for various gardening programs and projects. Classes from neighborhood schools and other schools in the Greater Milwaukee Area come to the garden for hands-on enviornmental learning and gardening. The summer program is held mid-June thru mid-August, Mondays thru Thursdays, 9am to 12noon. There is no cost to participate in the program.

In addition to the hands-on gardening, children enrolled in the summer program are part of the SeedFolks 4-H Club, participate in the Plant Science Day at the Hancock Agricultural Research Station, are engaged in health and nutrition education, sell their vegetables, herbs, and flowers at local farmer's markets, and harvest food for home. The garden program also implements the Garden Mosaics curriculum, and takes some of the children through the Junior Master Gardeners training for national certification.
