This is an organic community garden containing 124 garden plots ranging from 10 feet by 10 feet to 20 feet by 20 feet. These plots are rented on an annual basis. I am the 'Garden Coordinator' for these plots (maintenance, liasion between Reston Association and the gardeners, resolution between gardeners). Another responsibility is to make sure that all the gardeners are using totally organic methods. Gardeners are free to grow any legal type of plant. Excess produce is exchanged between the gardeners or is donated to Reston Interfaith. This organization provides food for the elderly, poor and indigent, amongst other programs. We have grown to become a thriving community in which the gardeners interact with each other and look out for each other's plots, as needed. This community garden is one, and the largest of, 4 community gardens in Reston, Virginia. Each of which has it's own 'Garden Coordinator'.
