Steelman Park Community Garden

The community garden in Steelman Park came as a result of a partnership between the Guilford County Health Dept., the N.C. Agriculture Extension Service and the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Dept. That park was chosen as our first city community garden for several reasons- the neighborhood is historic but in a state of deterioration, with 70% of the homes being rental property, the Neighborhood Association and the City of Greensboro embarked on a neighborhood revitalization and the park itself was plaqued with drug and alcohol users and was no longer deemed safe by the adjacent neighbors.
